HLS-6000 Heart & Liver Machine
Operates independently from the plant overhead and uses a mechanical process to separate hearts and livers from the viscera package
One operator can feed up to 91 BPM with one back-up person at the inspection table. The viscera package is placed onto a roller and as the bird moves down line, the viscera package is transported onto an auger that pulls the package up to a guide bar. The heart and lungs are caught by the guide bar and separated from the liver by the first blade. A second blade then separates the liver from the remainder of the viscera.
Heart and lung packages are carried to a separator that removes the lungs. The heart is carried to an inspection hopper above the inspection table. Hearts may be retrieved from the hopper or dumped into a giblet flume. Livers are guided to the inspection table. The back-up operator inspects hearts and livers before they are flumed to the chiller.
Advantages:
- Low maintenance
- Auger and blade speed are easily adjusted for fine-tuning
- Operates independently from overhead
- Stainless steel auger transport achieves accurate cuts, has few moving parts and requires minimum maintenance
- Integrated heart/lung separator requires less floor space
- Minimizes product pile-ups
- Repetitive Motion Disorder risk is minimized because the operator does not turn his/her wrist when loading machine
